THE EARLY HISTORY

In 1953, the interest in Family Planning in this country began to take more concrete form, particularly in Selangor with advice and encouragement from Singapore Family Planning Pioneers. On the 10th July 1953, an informal exploratory meeting was held in Kuala Lumpur at which it was decided to form a Family Planning Association. Only two months later the country started with the formation of the Selangor Family Planning Association which held its inaugural meeting organized by the late Mrs. Henry Price in the Town Hall Kuala Lumpur on the 15th September 1953. Its first president, A.D. York MCC (until 1962) and the first chairman Dr. A.E. Doraisamy (until 1956). The registration of the Selangor Family Planning Association was approved officially by the Register of Societies on the 21st of October 1953.
